[But he smiles. It's a good sign, anyway - he'd rather they both look after each other than be completely callous to each other's struggles. Neither one has it easy.]
I do wish I wasn't so clumsy, but there's nothing I can do about it. Everyone has flaws, right?
No, can't say it did, but I appreciate the thought. It's just the unfortunate reality of having been clumsy since birth.
[No lying does make it kind of hard to carry a joke, that's for sure. He'd prefer to laugh it off and claim he feels so much better now, thank you very much, but oh well. He'll take what he can get, and right now that means staying content with the truths he's had to give. He'd certainly much rather be talking to Daisy right now than the people he'd been in that room with previously.]
We are. Wish I could say this stuff was wearing off, but that might still be another few hours.
[Based on what little he knows about the common drugs, anyway. Training didn't exactly cover the fine details of truth serums, and more just a "get away from people and lie low for a day" approach. The stuff isn't common. Most thugs would rather resort to methods like torture, since it's cheaper. Once again he can count himself fortunate.]
[Daisy frowns in concern at his answer, because it wasn’t an adamant no now.]
Fine. An hour, and that’s it.
[Speaking of being watched, Daisy pulls out her phone to check her security cameras. So far nothing obvious, but he’s right. It’s too soon to know for sure.]
I doubt you want to help with paperwork, so want to go back to the living room and I’ll pop a movie in?
[As if she’ll be able to focus on work anyway right now.]
Yeah, that sounds all right. Should take my head off this shit.
[He does not in fact want to help with paperwork exactly. He would if she asked, but he's also not sure it's anything he should be doing for her anyway, depending on if any of it's classified or simply not in his wheelhouse.
He stands carefully just in case his head's still not on right even if it doesn't hurt at the moment, but his balance seems to be fine - for his usual values of fine, anyway. Time to make himself comfortable on the living room couch.]
If you get bored, there's always room for two.
[Which he... did not have to add, but oh well, there it is. It's hardly a pickup line, he just doesn't mind the idea of having her close, that's all.]
[Said paperwork was scattered across her coffee table at the moment, and the temptation to curl up next to Rosi on the couch was much more tempting now. Especially after the day he’s had Daisy thinks the paperwork can wait.]
I guess it couldn’t hurt to take a break.
[She says, after pretending to debate it. Smiling gently she grabs the TV remote and goes the Netflix app as she takes a seat next to him.]
[Ah, the classic Netflix and chill. Maybe with an actual movie involved, though, since he's not sure he's in the best state for the metaphorical sort at the moment.
But he does settle an arm around her as he thinks it over.]
Dunno. Nothing that takes too much thinking. Any good new action movies out?
[He's extremely not picky about movie choices, either. There are times when something well-crafted or well-written appeals, but he's too tired to appreciate fine filmmaking. He does, however, skip past some Bond film - because yeah even if they're ridiculous, there is such a thing as too close to home.]
Hmm, Snakes on a Plane?
[Said absolutely with a terrible grin. This is not a good movie, but it's perfect in its own way.]
Oh, or Karate Kid, haven't seen that one in a long time.
[He grins. Was he kidding? Not really, but he'll agree this is the better choice anyway. He hits play and sinks a little lower on the couch to try and be at least a tiny bit closer to her height, enough where he can lean his head down and press a kiss to the very top of her head - with some effort, it's still kind of a reach.]
[Daisy smiles when he slumps, none of her furniture was made for someone of his height. Tilting her head to look up at him, her eyes fall briefly to his lips.]
You would’ve done the same for me.
[Her gaze lifts towards his,]
Besides, they’d be stupid to try anything with with me here.
I'd say I'd like to see them try, but it's best they stay put wherever they are. Satisfying when you get to throw people around who deserve it, though.
[Her powers are just too goddamned cool, he's probably never really going to be over that.]
Maybe. You've had longer to get used to them. Besides, I'm kind of jealous. Silence is useful, sure, but so is being able to make your own earthquakes whenever and wherever you want. Or, back home, there was a girl who could make her own limbs into any kind of weapon she liked. Imagine being able to launch grenades from your arms!
[So unfair. And kind of ironic, as the movie starts up, because karate is definitely about making your body into a weapon, isn't it? But not quite so literally.]

[Daisy lifts her head when he mentions someone who she’s never heard of before. How the hell have they known each other for this long and he’s never told her about that kind of insane power?]
[He laughs, squeezing her close. Yeah, it probably does sound pretty crazy, in retrospect.]
I don't think I could fuck with you right now anyway, not until this all wears off. No, I'm serious. I've also known someone who can swim through stone, and someone who could wring cruelty and violence out of people just like she was wringing out wet laundry.
[Just to name a couple more he doesn't bring up often, just because it never comes up in a normal conversation.]

[She could try to tell him again not to worry, but she knows he will anyway.]
I wouldn’t call it a flaw. Humbling is a better word for it.
[Because other than that, he’s an amazing fighter. So maybe he needs to be humbled sometimes.]

[He's grinning, just the dull throb of the headache keeping him from breaking out into actual laughter.]
But thanks, if you were trying to make me feel better.

[Daisy isn’t offended by his honesty either, even if he doesn’t really have a choice right now.]
So are we even with the truth or dares?

You sure you don’t want me to call Simmons?
[To be honest she’s not sure there would be much she could do in a situation like this.]

Wait an hour. If anyone's watching your place now, maybe they'll give up by then. It probably wouldn't hurt to have someone check me over.

[Just pointing that out, you know. He smiles and gives her a little squeeze.]
Really don't mind though, if you have something you want to watch.
no subject
[Because action movies were not hers. Smiling when he gives her a squeeze, she tilts her head to look up at him. Chin resting against his chest.]
We can put on an action movie. Here.
[She hands the remote over to him, not fussed with whatever he picks. Just being close to him is nice.]
