[He's extremely not picky about movie choices, either. There are times when something well-crafted or well-written appeals, but he's too tired to appreciate fine filmmaking. He does, however, skip past some Bond film - because yeah even if they're ridiculous, there is such a thing as too close to home.]
Hmm, Snakes on a Plane?
[Said absolutely with a terrible grin. This is not a good movie, but it's perfect in its own way.]
Oh, or Karate Kid, haven't seen that one in a long time.
[He grins. Was he kidding? Not really, but he'll agree this is the better choice anyway. He hits play and sinks a little lower on the couch to try and be at least a tiny bit closer to her height, enough where he can lean his head down and press a kiss to the very top of her head - with some effort, it's still kind of a reach.]
[Daisy smiles when he slumps, none of her furniture was made for someone of his height. Tilting her head to look up at him, her eyes fall briefly to his lips.]
You would’ve done the same for me.
[Her gaze lifts towards his,]
Besides, they’d be stupid to try anything with with me here.
I'd say I'd like to see them try, but it's best they stay put wherever they are. Satisfying when you get to throw people around who deserve it, though.
[Her powers are just too goddamned cool, he's probably never really going to be over that.]
Maybe. You've had longer to get used to them. Besides, I'm kind of jealous. Silence is useful, sure, but so is being able to make your own earthquakes whenever and wherever you want. Or, back home, there was a girl who could make her own limbs into any kind of weapon she liked. Imagine being able to launch grenades from your arms!
[So unfair. And kind of ironic, as the movie starts up, because karate is definitely about making your body into a weapon, isn't it? But not quite so literally.]

[Daisy lifts her head when he mentions someone who she’s never heard of before. How the hell have they known each other for this long and he’s never told her about that kind of insane power?]
[He laughs, squeezing her close. Yeah, it probably does sound pretty crazy, in retrospect.]
I don't think I could fuck with you right now anyway, not until this all wears off. No, I'm serious. I've also known someone who can swim through stone, and someone who could wring cruelty and violence out of people just like she was wringing out wet laundry.
[Just to name a couple more he doesn't bring up often, just because it never comes up in a normal conversation.]
Swim through stone how? Like a ghost can walk through walls?
[She’s met a lot of people with powers, but nothing quite like what he’s describing here. Daisy winces a little when he mentions another person, unsure if that’s truly a power or just…
Sure, like that, but more like someone might swim through water. Doesn't have to be stone either, could be wood or dirt.
Anyway, he's in prison now thanks to Vice-Admiral Tsuru, last I heard. She's really an expert when it comes to doing the laundry.
[And who doesn't like fresh, clean laundry? He laughs a little, glad he's on her side. She's one hell of a tough old woman.
It's nice, too, to watch old nostalgic movies like this one. The Karate Kid, in his karate training, makes for a pleasant bit of nonsense he only really has to half-watch anyway while he gets to just spend time at Daisy's side. Maybe they should do movie nights more often. Popcorn, drinks, a little bit of snuggling.]
[He takes the shove without budging, but grins. Coming from her, dork sounds like a compliment.]
Yeah, I suppose I do. I should introduce you to some of them sometime.
[Which feels more... real now somehow? Like not just "hey this is my friend Daisy", but "hey this is Daisy, who I'm with," not that he'd say it like that.]
[Those words send butterflies fluttering around her stomach, because there’s an unspoken implication there.]
I’d like that.
[They’ve met each other’s friends or co workers in passing before, but now it’s different. It means something else, and she can’t help but smile as she leans up to kiss him.]
[He dips down to make it easier on her, savors the warmth of her lips, then gives a contented little hum as they separate.]
Sengoku would like you, too. I'll see when he'll have time for dinner, one of these days.
[That feels especially real, and pink tints his pale cheeks at the thought. If anything, his old man will probably be shocked that he finally found someone, but shocked in the best possible way.]
[Daisy knows how much Sengoku means to Rosi and her stomach does another excited flip at the prospect of meeting him.]
Really?
[They’ve never put a label on whatever this was, but conversations like this are a big indicator to how serious this is getting. It should scare her, but it doesn’t.]
[Daisy isn’t sure if he would’ve so openly admitted to that without the truth serum, but she knows he means it. Beaming up at him, Daisy raises a hand to cup the side of his face.]
[He might have said it even without. What they have is still new enough that he's not always sure how best to put words to it, but at the same time, he wouldn't be here with her, arm around her shoulders while he's recovering from the effects of the drug if he didn't absolutely trust her, and that trust isn't something he places in others easily.
She cups his face and he kisses her again, this time on the lips after a bit of slouching downward to manage it. The movie in the background barely registers.]
Mind if I stay over tonight?
[Maybe it was assumed he was going to as it's already pretty late, but he feels like he should ask.]
[Smiling against his lips, Daisy keeps her hand on his face even when he pulls back to ask her about staying the night.]
Never.
[In all honesty, Daisy isn’t a fan of living alone. Not after living on a base in varying capacities for years on end. So the idea that she’d wake up to someone else here? Especially him? She’d love that. Reaching up with her other hand, she brushes his hair out of his eyes.]
Better. Head's a lot better. The truth part, I dunno. I haven't exactly had anything to lie about. I feel normal, though.
[Does that mean it's gone, finally? Hard to be sure, but at least it must be on its way out.
He slumps down low on the couch, feet extending outward, until he's able to lean his head against Daisy's. There, that's... well, not perfectly comfortable considering he might slip all the rest of the way off the couch any second, but he's doing his best on furniture simply not built for someone his height.]
[That kiss makes him smile more, he can't help it. Being around her is just better than not, it's that simple.]
Well, we'll have to work out who's responsible. But I have a copy of their guest list, so at least we can sort through names, weed out the unlikely ones.
["We" meaning more him and his commanding officer, but... Well, hell. Daisy's in on this too, now, and she's as effective as anyone he knows.]
Thanks. Did I already thank you? I.... [He shakes his head. The weird thing about the drugs starting to wear off is it's making his head temporarily a little extra fuzzy.] Just, thanks.

[Because action movies were not hers. Smiling when he gives her a squeeze, she tilts her head to look up at him. Chin resting against his chest.]
We can put on an action movie. Here.
[She hands the remote over to him, not fussed with whatever he picks. Just being close to him is nice.]

Are you kidding me? Karate kid, all the way.
[Look, Daisy can appreciate a trashy movie once in a while, but that movie was terrible.]

Terrifying.]
I hope you’ve stayed on their good side then.

You know a lot of weird people.

I’m going to ask for the report once it’s written up. I’m not going to let that jackass do this to anyone else.

[Or, you know, she’ll start trying to look through everything she can once he falls asleep. Whatever comes first.
Smiling when he thanks her, Daisy shakes her head before tucking her head under his chin. Arms wrapping more firmly around him in a sideways embrace.]
You don’t need to.
