[Daisy unintentionally put this off longer than she should have, but she finally finds herself at Rosi's door. Their last interaction had been a little fuzzy, but she remembers enough of it. Exhaling slowly, she finally knocks on the door and waits for an answer.]
[Rosinante's latest reading material is some very introductory information on space and stars and planets. The reading level may be well below him but the ideas and photos are worth it. He's no physicist or astronomer so honestly a kid's understanding of the black void out around them is good enough to get him started.
He's deep into looking at photos of Jupiter, in fact, when he hears the knock, so he sets the book face-down on the bed as he gets up and goes to open the door.
And raises an eyebrow at who it is, but then again, who would he be expecting? It's not like he gets visitors. The cigarette hangs from the corner of his mouth for a second before he pushes the door wider open and stuffs his hands in his pockets.]
[He steps back and lets her decide if she wants to close the door behind her or not. He can sort of guess at what this might be related to, but honestly there are a couple possibilities after everything that happened last month. Rather than press, he'll let her talk.]
Chair's yours, if you want it.
[Since otherwise the option is his weirdly-assembled bed of mattresses side by side on the floor until they cover enough of it to fit him. The frames just got in the way of even trying, and with his tendency to roll off them and onto the floor anyway, who needs 'em.
But there is one chair, at a desk, with a few books as well as what's probably a framed photo except that it's lying face-down on the desk.]
[Instead of sitting down, Daisy just hovers near it as she crosses her arms over her chest. Looking down at her feet momentarily as she tries to think of what to say first. He has to know why she's here, right?
Might as well rip the band aid off.]
Look, I was an ass, and I'm sorry.
[Daisy looks up at him this time, worried of how he'll react.]
[Is this the sort of thing he should be sitting down for? Whether it's serious or not, he does, so she doesn't feel like he's some kind of towering brick wall. Imposing that kind of discomfort isn't something he does to people he cares about.
So, she can stay standing, he'll sit, taking the edge of a mattress and folding his legs.]
I didn't think you were an ass.
[In fact, he's pretty confused by all this and really isn't even sure what she's apologizing for, but he has a lot of patience. Last time he saw her, she was pretty out of it, and nobody needs to be held accountable for things they say in a condition like that.]
I'm just glad to see you on your feet after what you must have gone through. I don't think you have anything to apologize for.
[It's less of a strain to look at him now that he's sitting, even if they still aren't exactly at eye level.]
Yeah? Well I felt like one, once I realized I put you on the spot like that.
[And apparently, despite being high, she wasn't the only one to notice. Kirigan had asked her about it after the fact, which only confirmed the suspicions she had voiced to Rosi.
She doesn't say anything in response to him at least knowing she had gone through something to end up in the makeshift infirmary, the only ones who really knew what had happened were the people who ended up in that memory with her, and Kirigan.]
[Man, she really doesn't need to be apologizing at all if that's what's got her upset. He shakes his head and tries not to laugh, because making her feel like an idiot is the last thing he wants right now. It's his fault, not hers.]
I'm sorry. The, uh, orbs ... they asked me to do that shit. I figured you wouldn't mind too much, since... Well, since I'm an idiot, probably. You're allowed to be mad at me, if that helps.
[Oof, something about her reaction just makes this that much harder. He'd hoped she'd laugh along with him more easily.
He sighs and slouches in his seat.]
Asked me to spend the whole mission like I had a crush on you. They didn't make me do it, that was my choice. I didn't think I'd be any good at it, to be honest.
[No, he figured he'd be able to pull it off, actually, that's the annoying part. He should spend more time acting the part of a terrible actor, but the last four years of that were mind-numbing sometimes.]
[She's not disappointed, and it shouldn't bother her at all. She's almost done worse when it came to her own goals she had been given, but it still does. She thought he was looking out for her because he cared, before it felt like it was something more than that.
Frowning, Daisy looks down at her hands for a minute.]
[No need to even think about that response, it's out quickly. He frowns, but his own discomfort clearly ought to be second to hers, in his mind.]
Not the crush, but the rest of it. You're a good partner. We work well together. I like talking to you. I wouldn't change much about any of what I did, and I was scared of misleading you the whole time. You know, I ... When you were being looked after by the doctors, I still would've stayed to make sure you were all right.
[Maybe he could have. Maybe that would still work. Who knows what the orbs want, what counts and what doesn't.
It looks like she wants an answer, though, and maybe it's not the worst thing to give her an honest one. Payment for how he behaved the last month.]

[Nodding in understanding, Daisy smiles sadly because she can definitely relate to that. She used to think it was easier, taking care of things on her own. Not getting anyone else involved.]
For someone whose not used to working with people, you're pretty good at it.
[They've worked on a few missions at this point, so she feels as though she's got a good judge on him as a person.]
You make it easier. You know what you're doing, you're good at it, and you make it... fun, I guess.
[But he knows how all that sort of sounds, coming on the heels of the last month and all the compliments involved, and so he gives her a smile that's uncertain, a bit crooked.]
Like I said, the act wasn't a hard one. Mostly just tried to do better about saying what I thought. I think if I liked someone like that, I'd just be more open with them more often and that's the only real difference.
[He thinks. It's hard to be sure. Another honest, and somewhat unfortunate, admission - who at his age hasn't fallen in love at least once? But again the willingness to be honest is his own best indication that he cares about her, even if it's not romantic.]
[Daisy smiles tightly at that because she's awful at taking compliments. It does make her feel good to hear something like that though, that she makes him feel comfortable at least.]
