Bringing the soda over to where he's got the rum, Daisy pours herself some of it into her glass before filling it the rest of the way with coke. Smiling as he talks about his home, Daisy hands him the bottle so he can pour himself however much he wants.]

It's not terrible. The rum helps cut through how sweet it is.

Let's see... Four weeks, give or take a few days. Most islands are close enough where two weeks is the most you'd usually spend, but any time you have to cross a calm belt things slow down, then while on the way north into East Blue, which has this big empty part of the ocean before you get to the next island the ship I was on this one time got stalled by a storm we hadn't expected. Still not convinced it was natural. Shredded the sails, broke a mast, so we were basically stranded for a week doing repairs. All the while, there were sea kings passing by just at the horizon, and if the ship wasn't shielded against them we'd have been breakfast.
Huh? Oh, yeah, it was a Marine cruiser, not some little rowboat. They make long journeys relatively comfortable. Three decks, plenty of space. Not meant to handle a storm like that, though, that's for sure.
[Still, comfortable is all relative. He has no problem sleeping in a hammock and tolerating everything being damp and salty for a couple weeks with forty other Marines all in close quarters. The Ximilia is luxurious in comparison.]
'Course, I've had to deal with rowing through a storm before in a dinghy too but that was just for a day or two, not a month.
If you want, I've already used the simulation room for it a couple times. Less to teach, more to just show off what being on a sailing ship is like, since I guess a bunch of you've never been on one. Any time you want.
[It's an especially easy offer to want to make. Reminds him a little bit of home, for an hour or so, just to feel the wind on his face and the swell of waves under the deck. Plus, you can't actually drown in a simulated ocean if you fall off, so that's pretty good.]
Only one way to find out. But I suppose since it's all based on what I'd want to see, I can just imagine the water flat if you like. Plus, as long as you can see the horizon it's not so bad for most beginners. Folks new to sailing really struggle below decks. Something about seeing your surroundings helps your mind make sense of it.
[Mostly. He shrugs. He hasn't met too many people who regularly get seasick in his world, but maybe it's been bred out of them all after generations.]
