An apology.

Didn't feel right to just say sorry over the tablet after what I did. I guess it must seem archaic to you.

Archaic isn't the issue.
It's the indirectness.
It's not like you.

To be honest, I don't even think an apology is entirely necessary.
What happened wasn't unprovoked.
We were both out of our goddamn minds, and you might have attacked me, but I attacked you with a knife.
You weren't even the only one.
I won't say that we had no control, or at least I did. But my actions only made sense in the context of what I was seeing that no one else was.
I was completely out of touch with reality.
This town, it does things like that to you.
This is neither of our fault.

Trying not to walk too much right now and I haven't seen you around your room in a while. Figured this was fine.

I've never seen this exact thing before.
Our lights have never changed colors, even if certain things may have affected our perception.
The fact that whatever this is causes direct changes to our lanterns doesn't exactly bode well, in my opinion.

Sorry about your roommate. I never got to know her very well myself. Village sounds nice though.

Changes to the lanterns are troubling. It's as much us as our bodies are. Feels invasive.
I'm glad it's over for now. Don't like not being in control of myself.

Broken rib's not much fun. Could've been worse though, you're right. Pretty sure I pulled a gun on a few people.

It's probably for the best that I've never managed to acquire a gun.

Hard to say since nobody knows what caused it. I'm still trying to put together the complete correlation of colors and effects. Not sure what I missed since I wasn't fully myself.

Red's a physical transformation, that was consistent. Blue and green are harder to define.

All of the ones I saw with red light had physical symptoms, so I'll confirm that.
As for the others, god, I don't know.
Now that it's over, I can tell you that mine was green. I kept it closed most of the time.
The side-effects were... mental, I think.
I couldn't make sense of time.
It was like I was in the past and the present at once, and everything was overlapping.

[There's a bit of a pause between messages. What does he say to that? Knowing what Will went through when he was younger gives the fear in his eyes and the knife in his hand, the desperation for food, all the context he needs. There's a deep sorrow in the pit of his stomach. It's too easy to sympathize. The look in Will's eyes could have been his own, or his brother's, at times.]

Mine changed a few times. Blue to green to blue again. Angry at first, and then later when it turned back to blue no matter what I thought or felt it only came out as laughter.

Green was confusing. I wasn't myself. I don't know who that person was but it wasn't me.

[Sometimes he forgets that Rosinante knows more about him than, well, anyone else here. It wasn't his intent to put the full weight of that into this conversation, but by the time he realizes, it's too late.

Well, at least Rosi didn't mention it. He won't mention it, either.]

Maybe green was altering your perception of yourself.
Or perceptions in general.
Changing who you are.
I don't know. Something along those lines.
And blue, I didn't see much of it, but both of those sound like something affecting your emotions.

It could be that simple for blue. I saw others with the same afflictions: anger or nonsensical laughter. Kuai Liang also had a blue lantern at one point but he didn't seem abnormal.

Green was rare. I don't think I ran across anyone else who had green. Guess we're just that unlucky.

Probably better that way.
If some of the more trigger-happy types wound up in our situation, we'd probably have far more problems to deal with.

Right. And those situations tend to escalate. Harder to apologize and be forgiven when someone's dead with only a 30% chance of coming back.

Should probably seriously look into what caused this to happen. Maybe it can be predicted.

I wonder if the colors of the candles in the church changed at the same time.
We know they're connected to our lanterns.
If not a way to predict it, could be a way to detect it.

Something to keep an eye on. Good call. I'll ask around and see if anyone went into the church during that week and if they noticed.
